The Collapse of the Iranian Regime Shahin Gobadi's Urgent Warning

Erika Grey sits down with Shahin Gobadi to discuss the imminent regime change in Iran. As cracks form in the foundation of the Mullahs' rule, Gobadi reveals the "Third Option": a bottom-up revolution led by the Iranian people. The interview explores the strategic failures of Western appeasement, the heroic legacy of Madame Maryam Rajavi, and why a democratic Iran is finally on the horizon.

ERIKA GREY: Welcome to The Twist News. I’m Erika Grey. These are exciting times in which we live—times of rapid change and shifting foundations. Today, we focus on the regime in Iran. The cracks are visible throughout the building of the current leadership, and it is only a matter of time before it falls.

I am thrilled to welcome back to the program Shahin Gobadi, the Paris-based spokesperson for the National Council of the Resistance of Iran (NCRI). Shahin, welcome back.

SHAHIN GOBADI: Thank you for having me, Erika. Since our last talk, war has become almost inevitable because appeasement continues. But the ultimate solution remains: regime change from the bottom up by the Iranian people and their organized resistance.

ERIKA GREY: It feels like a critical phase. How close is this change?

SHAHIN GOBADI: It has never been closer. The regime has never been weaker, and the resistance has never been stronger. We have a network of "Resistance Units" in all 31 provinces. They risk everything to break the spell of repression—burning images of the Supreme Leader and placing portraits of Madame Maryam Rajavi in public spaces. The youth realize there is no future under this regime.

ERIKA GREY: You mentioned the historical baggage of Evin Prison. It seems to symbolize the cycle of repression.

SHAHIN GOBADI: Exactly. Evin was the epitome of repression under the Shah, and it remains so under the Mullahs. Iranians have been fighting for democracy for 120 years. They are tired of the "binary" choice between the Turban and the Crown. They want true democracy.

ERIKA GREY: Let's talk about the alternative. Madame Maryam Rajavi has such a tragic yet heroic background. A metallurgical engineer who lost sisters to both the Shah and the Mullahs.

SHAHIN GOBADI: Her story is one of incredible sacrifice. One sister was tortured to death while eight months pregnant. Her brother-in-law, Iran’s first UN Human Rights Ambassador, was assassinated in broad daylight in Geneva. She has faced several attempts on her own life, including a foiled 2018 bomb plot in Paris. She represents the "Third Option"—change by the Iranian people, for the Iranian people.

ERIKA GREY: Yet, we see the EU and the U.S. screaming for "diplomacy." What is behind this misguided policy?

SHAHIN GOBADI: It isn't ignorance; it is a misguided strategy. Some of it is shortsighted economic interest. Some of it is the false belief that there are "moderates" in this regime. They give them "cookies" and concessions, but that money only funds groups like Hezbollah, the Houthis, and the atrocities of October 7th.

ERIKA GREY: It seems like "geopolitical gaslighting."

SHAHIN GOBADI: Precisely. The regime uses a cyber army and "experts" to demonize the opposition and justify concessions. But facts are stubborn things. The Mullahs have run out of strategic resources. The myth that they are invincible is broken.

ERIKA GREY: Shahin, your confidence is palpable. A democratic Iran truly feels closer than ever. Thank you for setting the record straight.

SHAHIN GOBADI: It was my pleasure. The message is simple: support the Iranian people’s voice. Thank you, Erika.

ERIKA GREY: I’m Erika Grey. Stay tuned to The Twist News for more strategic insights.
