EU Declares End of US‑Led Order & Rise of Its Empire [at Davos Historic Summit]

What just happened at Davos was not just another summit. This was the moment the European Union publicly broke from the United States and declared itself a rival empire.
This year's Davos summit officially declared the end of the Old World Order and ushered in a new one. Canada, along with the EU, declared the end of the old order, and the EU stressed that in the new order it was moving toward European independence.
The Great Geopolitical Divorce: EU vs. USA at Davos
It more than stated its independence. EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen declared the EU a major player on the world stage, essentially telling the world that the EU no longer needed the United States, that it was a power in its own right.
The "Mother of All Deals": EU’s Pivot to India and Global GDP
She talked about how the EU negotiated the "mother of all deals" – Mercosur – the largest free trade zone in the world, and how it is now going to work on the deal with India creating a market of 2 billion people, 25% of global GDP. She emphasized how India's economy is growing by 6% a year, indicating that the benefits of their trade deal with India would grow with India's economy.
In talking about these deals, she was getting two messages out. The first is that because of them, the EU does not need to rely on the United States. The second is that because of deals like these, which strengthen their economy, they are now a superpower, divorcing from the United States. She stated that after Greenland the EU would never go back. The divorce is final, no matter what president or administration comes next.
EU Inc. & The 28th Regime: Building a Digital Fortress
Knowing that the EU has the big disadvantage for companies in their ability to do business in the EU vs. in the United States, she boasted about what I will call "United States–EU Inc.": the 28th regime. Entrepreneurs will be able to register a business across all 31 member states online in just 48 hours, making it much easier for start-ups and keeping them from leaving the EU for the United States.
In asserting the EU's independence and stature, she asserted that the EU is keeping pace with the AI race. She stated that European companies are now integrating AI at the same pace as their U.S. peers.
AI Factories and Gigafactories: Europe’s Race for Sovereignty
She emphasized the mobilization of "AI factories" and "gigafactories" to ensure Europe has the localized infrastructure to process data and scale innovation without relying on foreign servers.
Von der Leyen's cherry-on-the-cake moment came when she talked about EU defense.
A €800 Billion Military Surge: The Brain of the Future Battlefield
Von der Leyen stated that more was done in this last year to build the EU defense than in previous decades. Europe is spending €800 billion on defense by 2030. Fifty-five percent of all military equipment will be manufactured in European factories, intentionally shifting away from American defense contractors.
The rise of European "unicorns" focusing on AI-powered battlefield intelligence. She announced that three European defense tech start-ups have already reached unicorn valuation, over $1 billion. These companies are focused on AI-powered software for battlefield intelligence and advanced surveillance drones.
In other words, Europe isn't just buying weapons – it's building the brain of a future battlefield, and that brain will not be American. Von der Leyen is signaling a move toward technological protectionism. By building "EU Inc." and focusing on AI-driven defense, Europe is attempting to build a "digital fortress" that is independent of Silicon Valley.
The Battle for Greenland: Finalizing the Transatlantic Divorce
Concerning Greenland, she announced a "European investment surge" in Greenland and a new European icebreaker capability to secure the High North independently of the U.S.
So when you add the trade deals, AI factories, and this new defense build-up together, you're seeing one thing: the EU preparing to stand as a full empire apart from the US.
