Trump's Delusion-Ignoring the EU Empire
Trump’s NSS Part Two—Russia, Europe, and the "Daddy" Complex
Since I am obsessed with Donald Trump's national security strategy, here now is part two on Russia with Europe. He starts it by saying: “This lack of self-confidence is most evident in Europe's relationship with Russia. European allies enjoy a significant hard power advantage over Russia by almost every measure save nuclear weapons.
The "Policeman" Doctrine: Managing Europe’s Affairs
Managing European relations with Russia will require significant US diplomatic engagement, both to reestablish conditions of strategic stability across the Eurasian landmass and to mitigate the risk of conflict between Russia and European states.
Whoa. Basically, this is saying that Europe cannot handle its own affairs without the help of the United States. This is the old US doctrine—the old US attitude that Europe cannot deal with its own conflicts without the United States. What this means is that the world can't function without "daddy" coming and stopping the fighting of the two children. The United States is taking the role of the parent, the policeman.
It’s shocking because it doesn't take into consideration what's over on the other side of the Atlantic. I don't think it recognizes how far this European Union has actually come and what it represents now on the world stage.
Stabilizing European Economies: Ignoring the ECB
The strategy states it is a core interest of the US to negotiate an expeditious cessation of hostilities in Ukraine "in order to stabilize European economies."
It’s as if Christine Lagarde doesn't even exist. The European Central Bank doesn't exist. This totally ignores every single speech, every press release, and the day-to-day initiatives in the Parliament and the Berlaymont. It ignores Brussels like it doesn't exist. Now the United States needs to "get in there and stabilize Europe's economies"? This is really a shocker to me.
The "Non-Imperial Empire" and the Blindness of the US
I remember when I interviewed Andrew Duff, a former MEP and one of the architects of the European Union. I asked him why European federalism is misunderstood or unheard of around the world. He admitted it’s a question he asks himself a lot.
There is a blindness over the US President and whoever is advising him. They don’t have a clue about this empire that's already beginning to punch up to its weight. As Manuel Barroso stated in 2007, the EU is the first "non-imperial empire." We are in a multi-polar order, and the Book of Daniel predicts this final empire. All the nonsense from prophecy teachers about a "New World Order" and conspiracies ignores that Daniel was specific about a final empire—which is exactly what has formed.
Minority Governments and the Geopolitical Shift
The strategy claims that the Trump administration finds itself at odds with European officials who hold "unrealistic expectations" for the war and are "perched in unstable minority governments."
The Europe of today is the European Union. Twenty-seven governments have handed many aspects of their sovereignty to Brussels. He didn't get the memo. He is focused on political crises in individual states, failing to see that a geopolitical shift took place long ago.
Conclusion: A Strategic Land Grab
Brussels is not giving an inch on Russia because Ukraine is 30% of the world's wheat crop. It’s the second largest landmass in Europe with 40 million citizens. This is a major land grab, and they're not going to give up easily. Trump is failing to recognize the strategic interests of the European Union as an entity. He is still viewing the nation-state as if it holds the future of the EU, when it does not.
