US vs EU: Power Shift & Israel’s Key Role

The Gaza Chess Move: How Trump Sidelined the European Union

Kicked to the Curb: The Sidelining of the EU in the Middle East

Donald Trump's Gaza peace plan literally just kicked the European Union to the curb. And it more than kicked them to the curb. It's now divided the EU, US in the Middle East in their both their positions and their approach. Now, we're going to take a look at exactly what he did because it was absolutely brilliant. not only the peace plan that he has proposed but also how he completely sidelined the European Union and for good reason because right now the European Union is going headstrong on the idea of a two-state solution and many nations have come out at the UN recognizing Palestine now as a state and there's talk of more nations recog recognizing Palestine as a state and Trump just won in this chess game and just literally oneuped sidelined the European Union.

The "Foolish" Mantra: Trump on Palestinian Recognition

But first, we'll take a listen to what Donald Trump had to say about the European Union coming out recognizing Palestine. Several countries have foolishly recognized the Palestinian state as you know some of our European friends, allies, good people, but they're really, I think, doing that because they're very tired of what's going on for so many decades. They've been presidents and prime ministers for years and during this time having to do with the Middle East. All they're doing is talking about the same thing over and over. Notice he says foolishly recognizes. But then he mulls it over a bit. He gives them the benefit of the doubt. Well, they've wanted peace. But then he gives them another shot. And this is exactly what he says. And it's actually he's given them a shot having to do with the Middle East. What we're doing is talking about the same thing over and over. That talking about the same thing over and over is loaded because basically it's a mantra. The two-state solution is a mantra. It doesn't make geopolitical or geoeconomic sense. And yet it's that feel-good legislation, that feel-good policy that everybody talks about, but nobody really thinks about. And that's what he's saying in that statement.

The EU Compass: Ursula von der Leyen’s Two-State Focus

So, we're going to take another listen, this time to Ursula. Her statement at the UN again stating how the two-state solution is the policy that the EU is completely pushing for. And you're beginning to see with these statements this divide. But the divide gets even more so with Trump's Gaza peace plan. But first, let's listen to what Ursula had to say. When the night is darkest, we must hold fast to our compass. And our compass is the two-state solution. Our compass is the two-state solution. And Donald Trump just came out and said that that is foolish. And recognizing a Palestinian state is foolish.

Sidelined to Financeurs: The EU’s Role in Gaza’s Reconstruction

So, let's take a peek now at Trump's plan because in his plan completely sidelined the European Union and positioned the United States to not only have a major play in the region, but also positions the United States policy to be preeminent. I want to add that Ursula talked about all the money that they're now going to give to the Palestinian Authority and that's also in her speech. So, we'll just take a little quick listen at that because I want you to see the real contrast here and how Trump literally just not only sidelined the EU, he completely won up them and is going to guarantee US policy is going to be the preeminent policy in the region. But also, there is a complete divide now. But let's listen to what Ursula said about the money that they're going to throw at the two-state solution. We as the very survival of the Palestinian Authority is at stake. We must all do more and this is why we will set up a Palestine donor group. Any future Palestinian state must be viable also from the economic point of view and this can be achieved also with the support of the Palestinians neighbors. We Europeans will set up a dedicated instrument for Gaza's reconstruction – in coordination with other donors efforts. Gaza must be rebuilt. The Palestinian economy must be relaunched. and I invite all of you to join in the effort to make this happen.

Damage Control: Brussels Morning vs. Reality

Okay. So that's their approach. So we have in this proposal now the division of the United States and European Union and Trump positioning himself so that the United States policy is what is going to win and also in the rebuilding of Gaza also will benefit US companies. We're going to now take a look at Europe's reaction. Now, in my opinion, Ursula Vander Lion was smoking like her head was smoking when Trump came out with this plan. I'm sure that if I could have been a fly on the wall, I would have really liked to have been a fly on the wall to hear what they really had to say. But let's look at the the words that they they actually did put out. Let's look at what they are saying publicly, but I know that they are not happy at all. And we're going to take a peek at what Ursula Vander Lion herself said. And I believe that this was damage control. Ursula Vanderion said, "Welcome President Real Donald Trump's commitment to end the war in Gaza. encourage all parties to now seize this opportunity. Well, of course, she's going to need to say that. It's a a good plan. The EU stands ready to contribute. Okay, that's kind of powerp packed. Ready to contribute.

The Transatlantic Rift: Why US Policy Takes Preeminence

Now, we're going to look at another piece where now they're called contributors. They weren't asked to contribute, but they're letting the world know they're ready to contribute. And this is their way of doing damage control. And I want you to see what she finishes to say. Hostility should end with provision of immediate humanitarian relief to the population in Gaza and with all hostages released immediately. Okay, good. But here's here's the zinger. A two-state solution remains the only viable path to a just and lasting peace in the Middle East with the Israeli and Palestinian people living side by side in peace and security, free from violence and terrorism. So Europe looks like because they were sidelined. The European Union was sidelined, definitely kicked to the curb, treated like a non- entity. So now to save face, Ursula basically comes out and says that, you know, we're going to give our contribution and their contribution is to still bat for this two-state solution, say that this is what should happen and they're going to try to influence it.

Now, let's take a look at that was out of Brussels morning. Let's look at your active. Your active is the European Union's leading policy news rag. And so in your active, EU welcomes Trump's 20point Gaza plan, but left with contributor role. They weren't really given a contributor role. Well, they were sidelined. They are expected to support this. They're expected to support the Abraham Accords. They're not like jumping up and down because it's not their policy. So, so let's take a little peek at what some of the European Union leaders had to say and how they're recovering from this being sidelined. See, EU leaders have lined up to welcome Donald Trump's plan even as the block's role looks reduced to that of a finance yer. Okay. Vanderion said she's ready to contribute. Kjalis said it offers the best immediate chance to end the war. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, one of the strongest voices for recognizing Palestine, said that the two-state solution whereby Israel and Palestine coexist side by side in peace and security is the only possible one. French President Emanuel Macron stated that Trump's announcement should facilitate lasting peace in the region based on the two-state solution.

So this is how the European Union came out of this by basically stating that the two-state solution is the way that this must go forward. So this definitely signals that there is now a divide in the US EU Middle East policy literally right down the middle. And while the US is going to be going forward to enact its plan, the European Union is going to be screaming and doing all it can to fight for a two-state solution, which is going to be in contrast to this plan. So, this should be interesting going forward. There's now a divide. And I want you to definitely check out my book, Israel, the key to the West. And stay tuned for more and hit that subscribe button.
